Bathroom design trends for 2014

Categories: Bathroom

With 2013 on its way out and a new year soon to begin, many in the bathroom supply and design industry are wondering what features and items will be popular in 2014. With that in mind, here we take a look at some of the bathroom trends that may be taking UK bathrooms by storm in 2014.

Individualised bathroom furniture and fittings

In 2014 we predict that customers will be looking for bathroom furniture that is as individual as they are. More people are waking up to the fact that they don’t have to have a bathroom that looks like everyone else’s, and so they’re going to be on the look-out for baths, sinks and cabinets that look a little different, as well as representing their personality with some unique flourishes.

Minimalism

In the digital age people’s lives are seemingly becoming more complicated, and we’re all bombarded by information and visuals on a daily basis. In response to this, many people are envisaging bathrooms as a simple haven away from the zeitgeist. Expect plenty of solid colours that don’t scream their presence, and sublime fittings to match.

Affordable luxury

In 2014, we predict that more people than ever will want to bring a touch of luxury into their bathrooms, regardless of budget. In response to the greater demand for luxury bathrooms, industry suppliers are seeking to create affordable bathroom suites and accessories that meet this need for something out of the ordinary.

International influences

Another effect of the proliferation of images and information on the Internet is that people are exposed to a far greater range of influences than ever before. Today not all UK bathrooms are traditionally British, and many people are keen to experiment and incorporate elements of continental and Asian aesthetics. Bathroom designers would perhaps do well to bring some international influences into their designs to meet this trend.
